Stop billing HCPCS code G2025 and use the appropriate telehealth service code and modifier
Beginning October 1, 2026, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) changed how Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and Rural Health Clinics (RHCs) bill distant-site telehealth services.
Telehealth billing requirements
For dates of service on or after October 1, 2026, do not bill code G2025 for distant-site telehealth services. Instead, bill the procedure code that accurately describes the telehealth service provided and report the appropriate telehealth modifier:
- Modifier 93 for eligible audio-only telehealth services.
- Modifier 95 for eligible audio and video telehealth services.
For a list of eligible telehealth service codes, visit the CMS Telehealth Services List.
Will this affect my reimbursement?
